Coquille
Historic flavor fills farming, lumber town
Incorporated in 1885, Coquille is a farming and lumber community located in the Coquille River Valley. Coquille is the Coos County seat and home to the Sawdust Theatre, offering its renowned melodrama performances throughout the summer. That flavor of history carries throughout much of the community, and is visible in the turn-of-the-century historic homes and commercial buildings downtown. The average annual rainfall for this friendly community is 53.4 inches. Coquille has been voted one of the top 10 best small towns in America by a nation-wide travel magazine.
