BOULDER, Colo. — The Nebraska Cornhuskers had just as tough of a tuneup for the Big 12 championship game as No. 3 Texas did one day earlier.

Nebraska struggled on offense but thanks to touchdowns on a punt return and an interception, the Cornhuskers held off the Buffaloes 28-20 on an unseasonably warm Friday afternoon at Folsom Field.

Up next is the conference championship against Texas, which had its hands full against Texas A&M on Thanksgiving before winning 49-39 to keep its national championship hopes alive.

The Cornhuskers (9-3, 6-2) already had secured the Big 12 North title, but coach Bo Pelini forbade his staff and players from even mentioning the looming game against the Longhorns in Arlington, Texas, on Dec. 5 — and for good reason.

One day after learning their embattled coach would return next season, the Buffaloes (3-9, 2-6) put up a good fight but finally fizzled in their finale of one of the most disappointing seasons in the program’s history.

Ohio 35, Temple 17:Theo Scott threw for three touchdowns and ran for two more as Ohio beat Temple to advance to the Mid-American Conference championship game.

The Bobcats (9-3, 7-1 MAC) won their fourth straight game Friday, while ending Temple’s school-record nine-game winning streak.

Ohio will play Central Michigan in Detroit on Dec. 4.

Scott was 17 of 21 for 324 yards and had scoring passes of 9, 65 and 4 yards. He also scored on runs of 17 and 43 yards to help the Bobcats claim the MAC Eastern Division title.

Scott’s 43-yard run put Ohio ahead 32-17 with 10:02 left in third quarter. Taylor Price caught three passes for 94 yards for the Bobcats.

Temple’s Matt Brown rushed for 172 yards on 25 carries, including a 9-yard touchdown run in the second half for the Owls (9-3, 7-1).

Central Michigan 45, Northern Illinois 31:Dan LeFevour threw for 255 yards and three touchdowns in the final home game of his record-setting career, leading Central Michigan to a win over Northern Illinois.

The Chippewas (10-2, 8-0 Mid-American Conference), who wrapped up the MAC West title last week, head to the conference championship game to face Ohio University at Ford Field in Detroit next Friday. CMU finished unbeaten in conference play for the first time in school history.

Bryan Anderson caught three passes for Central Michigan to set an NCAA All Divisions record with at least one reception in 52 straight games. The previous record of 51 was held by Tauren Henderson of Texas Tech and Michael Larkin of Miami of Ohio.

Wyoming 17, Colorado State 16:Ian Watts kicked a 33-yard field goal with 1:27 left as Wyoming became bowl-eligible Friday with a victory over Colorado State.

Quarterback Austyn Carta-Samuels had touchdown runs of 8 and 49 for Wyoming (6-6, 4-4 Mountain West). The Cowboys had lost four of their previous five games and their last five meetings in Fort Collins.

Wyoming was last eligible for a bowl in 2006, but it didn’t receive an invitation. The last time Wyoming went to a bowl was the Las Vegas Bowl in 2004.

Backup quarterback Jon Eastman, a junior college transfer, had a touchdown pass in his first FBS start for Colorado State (3-9, 0-8). The Rams lost their last nine games.

Rutgers 34, Louisville 14: Mohamed Sanu ran for 148 yards and two touchdowns to lead Rutgers past Louisville on Friday.

Joe Martinek added 90 yards and a touchdown, while quarterback Tom Savage threw for a score and ran for another as the Scarlet Knights (8-3, 3-3 Big East) bounced back from an ugly loss to Syracuse last week.

Adam Froman passed for 254 yards and a touchdown for Louisville (4-8, 1-6), which has posted consecutive losing seasons for the first time since 1996-97.

The Scarlet Knights were held to 130 yards during the loss to the Orange, but bettered that total by the end of the first quarter against injury-depleted Louisville.

Rutgers scored touchdowns on its first four possessions and the Cardinals would get no closer than 14 the rest of the way.
