This holiday weekend as Ashley Kendall continues to fight for her life, her family is asking for everyone’s prayers.

While Kendall has shown signs of improvement, she still is in critical condition at Legacy Emanuel Hospital and Health Center. Her estranged husband shot her Nov. 17 in Coos Bay.

“She is not out of the woods yet,” the 22-year-old’s mother Marla Berning said. “We still need your prayers.”

Doctors have not predicted when Kendall will be moved out of the intensive care unit. She has been fighting off a bacterial infection and running a fever for the past three days, her mother said. Kendall is no longer in an induced coma, but is asleep much of the time.

Doctors have scheduled another surgery for Tuesday, as long as her condition remains stable, to cover up the exit bullet-wound.
