Doc and lawyer will brighten up holiday for needy families

Monday, November 23, 2009 |
Some local professionals are reaching out to less fortunate families this Thanksgiving by donating food and time.
Tuesday at 2 p.m., Attorney Juli Upton, Dr. Wallace Webster and their families will pass out 400 frozen turkeys and potatoes.
“A turkey could make the difference between a good Thanksgiving and not-so-good Thanksgiving for a family,” Dave Upton, Juli’s husband, said.
It cost $4,750 to purchase the birds and 300 pounds of potatoes, which will be handed out at Upton’s office, 2091 Broadway St., in North Bend.
Juli Upton came up with the idea a few months ago. She wanted to pass her prosperity on to others going through tough times. The donors also want to challenge other professionals to give back to the community this holiday season.
