A celebration of life will take place for Margaret Anne DuPont, 74, of Coos Bay in June at Sunset Beach. Cremation rites were held at Ocean View Memory Gardens Crematorium in Coos Bay.

Margaret was born on Jan. 3, 1935, in Newark, N.J., to Charles Bush and Margaret (McCabe) Bush. She  died Nov. 16, 2009, in Coos Bay.

Margaret was first married to Joe Flannery. Together they had five children. She later married Richard DuPont. Margaret enjoyed traveling and exploring the country. She would often write letters to her mother detailing places she had visited. Margaret worked as a bookkeeper and as a substitute teacher. She was a member of the Bay Area AmVets Post No. 10 Auxilliary, Veteran of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Eagles. She enjoyed making blankets and other gifts for children and service personnel. She also loved to read. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Margaret is survived by daughters, Kathleen Flannery of San Diego, Calif., Karen Thorne and her husband, Don of Andover, N.J., and Khristine Hughes of Grand Terrace, Calif.; son, Joseph Flannery III of Grand Terrace; stepdaughters, Melissa Scarbarough and husband, Matt of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Tammy Sobotka of Coos Bay; stepson, Francis DuPont of Tampa, Fla.; 21 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Margaret Bush; daughter, Kolleen Flannery; sister, Anna; and both husbands.

Arrangements are under the direction of Coos Bay Chapel, 267-3131.
