Foundation plans grant program in Reedsport

The Ford Family Foundation wants to sponsor a Ford Institute Leadership Program in Reedsport.
The organization will select a project for the class members to work on collectively. The institute provides up to a $5,000 match in support of an approved project. Past projects have included auditorium renovation, installation of play equipment at Henderson Park and Barrone Park improvements.
Reedsport, Gardiner, Winchester Bay and Loon Lake community members are invited to participate in each class, which is made up of diverse age group with backgrounds ranging from high school students to retired citizens.
Curriculum will cover subjects such as community capacity and social capital, personality types and leadership styles, community development models, Catalytic Leadership Model, asset mapping, group development, models for group decision making, communication strategies and volunteerism.
