Question: How do people who are taken to Coquille to be booked at Coos County jail get home when they are released, if they live somewhere else?

Answer: They county does not provide them with a ride.

“We give them an opportunity to call a cab,” said Cpl. Grant of Coos County Sheriff’s office.

“We provide them with the CCAT schedule,” referring to the public transit buses.

Coos County Area Transit runs from 7:15 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Grant said the jail releases about seven to 10 people per day and about half will have a ride waiting for them. Those who can’t afford a ride will generally hitchhike or hang around in Coquille.

It would help if the jail always released people during hours when they can get a ride with CCAT if they have no money. A friend was released at 2am after spending more than a month in jail. You can't tell me they couldn't wait a few hours and wake him up at a normal hour to release him instead of waking him up in the middle of the night when he can't get a ride.

I absolutely agree with Duck. It's pathetic that people like Carefree will blame law enforcement and the courts for their own screwed up lives and bad decisions that THEY make. Sounds simple to me... you thrash your relationship, get a piece of paper saying no contact or you go to jail, then THEY choose to have contact, and whine like a baby when they get in trouble.

Straighten out your screwed up lives and take some responsibility for the choise YOU have made, before you start blaming the world for YOUR problems.

I'm sure carefree will have some snappy comeback, but it will be futile, as he's already proven he's a slow learner and doesn't get it.

Hey Duckie...Keep blissfully paying your taxes for unnecessary incarcerations. Oh, and dont forget to turn off the heat in your cave when you come out to post comments.

Carefree you whine soo much on here it is almost unbearable. The fact you had a restraining order granted against you in the first place shows you have some issues. Im glad you did 45 days.

I spent 45 days in jail for catching a ride home with my wife after she asked for the restraining order to be dropped.
DA and Judge must be so proud.
why oh why are the jails overcrowded?
