Pirate QB is league’s MVP

Kyle Tedder was the undisputed leader of Marshfield’s offense and a standout on defense.
The Midwestern League’s coaches recognized his all-around contributions to the Pirates’ playoff run when they voted him player of the year.
Tedder was named to the first team at quarterback, defensive back and punter in the Midwestern League.
He was joined on the first-team offense by Marshfield center Cody Shipp and receiver Chris Krajcir, who was both Marshfield’s most dependable receiver and a dangerous passer on trick plays.
Other Pirates on the first-team defense were end Bo Cutting and linebacker Cody Dew.
Marshfield running back Ryan Scoville, guard Brandon Widemon, defensive lineman Dylan Boyer and defensive back Callen Cooper all were named to the second team.
Like Tedder, Thurston’s Kraig Aikens was honored on the first team at three positions — guard, defensive lineman and punter. He shared defensive player of the year honors with Thurston teammate Kyle Wright, a linebacker.
North Eugene standout running back Michael Bibbee, an Oregon State University recruit, was named offensive player of the year, while Thurston’s Justin Starck was coach of the year.
Far West League
Unbeaten league champion Douglas dominated the all-league voting, with offensive player of the year Jered Stofal, defensive player of the year Ricky Cortes and coach of the year Joe Polamalu.
All told, the Trojans had six players on the first-team offense, including quarterback Paul Polamalu. The Trojans also placed five players on the first-team defense. Stofal, Joe Dubie, Sky Woods and David Guthrie were honored both ways.
The only North Bend player to make the first team was defensive back Cody Harden.
Siuslaw’s John Duman was named to the first team on both offense (center) and defense (linebacker), while offensive lineman Aaron Teo, running back Sonny Tupua, tight end Trevor Roberts and defensive lineman Jacob Holloway also were named to the first team.
Brookings-Harbor standout Dustin Paradis was named to the first team at running back and kicker. Alex Pate, Nick Longo and Tyler Lueckfeld all were named to the first team on defense for the Bruins.
Sunset Conference
Gold Beach linebacker Jake Shields was the co-defensive player of the year with Cascade Christian defensive back Ben Joffer.
The Panthers placed linemen Garrett Hoffman and Jack Lander on the first-team offense and Lander (line) and Todd Martin (defensive back) on the first-team defense. Martin also was the first-team kicker.
Coquille, which finished fourth in the league standings, was represented on the first team by running back Joe Harris, offensive lineman Jon Binford and defensive back Heston Altenbach.
Bandon’s Connor Jackson was named to the first team at both quarterback and punter, while Myrtle Point’s Nic Canaday was a first-team linebacker. Reedsport was represented on the first team by wide receiver Cory Christoffersen and defensive lineman Ismael Osorio.
