Lakeside recall ballots due tonight

Tuesday, November 17, 2009 |
It’s recall day for the city of Lakeside.
Today is the last day that community members can weigh in on the effort to recall or retain six councilors and Mayor Orville Nelson.
In August, a petitioner filed to remove councilors Clark Anderson, Elaine Armstrong, Mack Eubanks, Rod Schilling and Chrysta Swift. Another filed later that month to unseat Nelson and councilor Tim Crockett.
Coos County Elections Director Debbie Heller said approximately 1,142 ballots have been issued to Lakeside citizens. Any stragglers can drop their votes off until 8 p.m. at Lakeside City Hall, 915 North Lake Road, or at the Coos County Courthouse at 250 N. Baxter, Coquille.
“If it’s received the next day, it will not be counted,” Heller said.
As of Nov. 12, 514, or 46.81 percent of the ballots had been returned.
