Leola Mary Sherod

A funeral service will be held for Leola Mary Sherod, 89, of Bandon and Lebanon at 1 p.m., Monday, Nov. 23, at Amling/Schroeder Funeral Service, 125 Eigth St. S.W. in Bandon. Committal services will follow at the Bandon IOOF Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday and from 11 a.m., until the service time on Monday at Amling/Shroeder Funeral Service.
Leola was born Feb. 24, 1920, in Webster City, Iowa, the daughter of Ward and Bessie Ricker McFarland. She died Nov. 15, 2009, in Lebanon.
She was an active member of Rebecca’s Lodge, past president of the Women’s Relief Corp., the Eagles Lodge and the Lady’s Dew Valley Club. She was an avid quilter and loved gardening, especially her orchids and begonias.
Leola is survived by her daughters, Delores and Pete Peterson of Toledo and Mary and Terry Ryckman of Toledo; sons, Robert and Sandra Wescott of McMinnville and Gary and MariChris Faules of Sunnyvale, Calif.; grandchildren, Wade, Elizabeth, Tom, Jeanine, Mitch, Howard, Misty, Greg, Scott, Melissa, Charmagne and William; 30 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Sherod; granddaughter, Katye; great-grandson, Jeremy; and her nine brothers and sisters.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the VFW, PO Box 992, Bandon, OR 97411; or Teen Challenge International, P.O. Box 108, Shedd, OR 97377.
Arrangements are under the direction of Amling/Shroeder Funeral Service, 347-2907.
