• Brookings-based C&K Market, parent of Ray’s Food Place (with locations in Brookings, Port Orford, Gold Beach and Bandon), launched a new rewards program that lets you rack up “EcoUnit credits” and apply them toward statewide conservation efforts.
Score EcoUnits with each purchase of an Organic Valley product. Redeem 50 EcoUnit credits to have a tree planted in the Deschutes River Basin, a native willow along Hay Creek, an important tributary to the lower John Day River, or a cedar at the junction of the Elk River and Rock Creek on the coast.
The program will go through the end of the year.

Apples for athletes• The North Bend branch of Oregon First Community Credit Union is supporting the North Bend High School by selling apple cutouts for $1. Every dollar collected from the apples will go directly to help provide athletic scholarships.
As the sponsor, Oregon First will match a portion of the total apple sales to further fundraising efforts and support North Bend High School athletic scholarships.
