Fall colors, themes dot November's Artwalk

The Coos Bay-North Bend Artwalk Association will present the November Artwalk event Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Artwalk is a self-directed tour of art displays, culture and gourmet food in downtown North Bend, Pony Village Mall, Coos Bay, and Empire.

Visitors can start at any of the locations listed below, which will provide maps showing event venues.

 North Bend

Crystal Dolphin Gallery,

 1901 Sherman Ave. 756-1989, will feature the work of glassblower Jason Trebolo. He specializes in lamp-worked vortex and galaxy marbles, pendants and jellyfish in glass.  Trebolo will demonstrate his craft as well as signing up students for his special class. There will be a drawing for a small vortex marble at the end of Artwalk.

Easy Lane Frames & Select Art Gallery,

3440 Broadway, North Bend 756-7638, will showcase “The Fantastic Colors of Fall” art show.  Visitors will find a variety work that includes oil paintings, watercolors and photography.  Visitors will  have a chance to vote for best of show.  One voter will receive a gallery certificate. The gallery will feature two new artists this month:  North Bend ceramic artist Stan Hobbs and Coos Bay oil artist Gary Ostrom.

The Framery,

 1774 Union Ave. 756-0797, will feature photograher Pattie Schad.

Gallery By The Bay,

2100 Union Ave. 267-2693, will offer an eclectic exhibit from their in-house artists. These include  calligraphy and ink drawings by Bill Blumberg; watercolors by Jean Boynton Ina Christensen and Vanessa Jorgensen; woven wall hangings by Joyce Farr; photography by Betty Wetzel, James Elmore, Patricia Heilbronn and granddaughters Kira and Kailan Bjornerud; and natural stone jewelry by Patricia Worth and Matt Vegar. There will be live piano and flute music, refreshments, and a free drawing for art cards at 6:30 p.m.

Sozo Tea and Coffee House,

 1955 Union, will be open until  7 p.m. The coffeehouse will have new art in addition to usual Artwalk offering — the free 8- ounce Artwalk latte.

Coos Bay

Coos Art Museum,

 235 Anderson Ave. 267-3901, will feature the Adopt an Artwork program as well as have selected art from the permanent collection on display.

Empire

Java Jones Coffee House and Art Gallery,

 757 Newmark 888-4477, will feature photography by Stacey Johnson. The coffeehouse also will offer the work of bead artist Colleen Hedberg and Raku pottery artist Laurie Lee. The Worn Out Frets will perform from 5 to 8 p.m.

Pony Village Mall

The Artist Loft Gallery,

Suite 103 756-4088, will have a “Fall Collage of Artists” that features Sharon Backus, Spence Billington, Barbara Mahon, Joy Bradford, Liz Coke, Norm Gould, Nan Forsberg-Hammons, Carol Howald, Sherry Houck, Christy Sanders, Carol Young, George McNair.  Hester Solseng, Patricia Markell, and Venita Stender will show jewelry art; Hope Sessums will offer fused glass and Robert Gates will show wood carvings.

 East Wing Art Wall,

 the East Wing entrance, will continue the “Fall Collage of Artists” from the Artist Loft Gallery.

Half-Moon Pottery,

upstairs 756-1807, will show pottery done by Robert Celentano.

Heritage Textile Arts Guild Suite,

157A, is a working fiber arts studio featuring unique, handcrafted items including wearable items, table and kitchen linens, handspun yarn and gift items. There are looms and other tools of the trade on display. Lessons are available in weaving, knitting, crochet and felting.

The Rose Palette Art Studio & Gallery,

290-7858, will offer paintings by done by Priscilla Wyatt and studio students.
