Medicare meetings set for Bandon

Wednesday, November 11, 2009 |
It is time to review your Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Plan and there will be two meetings in Bandon to help people figure out what to do.
Open enrollment starts Nov. 15 and runs through Dec. 31, with plans taking effect Jan. 1.
Seating is limited. Information meetings are scheduled:
n Tuesday, Nov. 17: at 6 p.m. at the Southern Coos Hospital conference room, 900 11th St. S.E.
n Friday, Nov. 20: at 6 p.m. at the Southern Coos Hospital conference room.
Senior Health Insurance Benefits Assistance is reminding seniors not to drop existing coverage. Enrolling in a new plan will take care of the change automatically. The meetings are designed to answer questions and to schedule appointments for those who need further help.
There are now 44 plans available in Coos County. Some premiums have gone up and some have come down.
Participants should need to bring a printout from their pharmacists, listing their prescription drugs, the strength and how often they are taken. Also, bring Medicare and Social Security cards and photo ID.
The group also will be discussing Medigap (Medicare supplemental) and Medicare Part C Advantage Care (pay fee for service).
For information, call SHIBA volunteer Lyn Silverman at 347-1585 to reserve a seat.
