NEW YORK (AP) — A New York City woman convicted of killing her father and mutilating his body has been sentenced to five to 15 years in prison.

After Friday’s sentencing, Queens District Attorney Richard Brown called the crime deeply disturbing and said he hopes 28-year-old Brigitte Harris will receive counseling in prison.

Harris was convicted in September of manslaughter and weapons possession in the 2007 slaying of 55-year-old Eric Goodridge, of Staten Island.

Prosecutors say Harris lured her father to her Queens apartment, handcuffed and gagged him, duct-taped a towel around his head and strangled him. They say she castrated Goodridge after he died.

Both Harris and her older sister publicly claimed Goodridge had sexually abused them from early childhood.

The Associated Press normally does not name people who have been victims of suspected sex crimes, but Harris’ lawyer and sister went public with her name.
