Three Coos County timber tracts are on the auction block, with two being sold by Roseburg Timber Products.
John Rosenthal, president of Realty Marketing/Northwest said Roseburg isn’t selling out. It’s just selling off smaller, scattered tracts and focusing on its primary properties.
“There are a lot of small investors very interested in buying timber tracks,” said Rosenthal, whose firm recently published and sent out 10,000 catalogs to prospective landowners. “The interest in Coos County now is that it’s near Bandon Dunes.”
Sealed bids on the latest auction are due by 5 p.m., Nov. 18.
• Catching Slough: Located five miles southeast of Coos Bay, the 67-acre tract has a 25-year-old stand of Douglas fir, with some hemlock and alder, which should be ready for harvest in about 10 to 15 years.
The forest zone property has about 1,000 feet of frontage along Catching Slough with a possible homesite, under a conditional use permit. It also includes about seven acres of pastureland between the slough and Sumner Road.
It is currently owned by Jefferson Timber Properties, LLC.
• Seven Devils Road: 483 acres with Douglas fir, spruce and white woods. Property is located within a 10-minute drive north of Bandon Dunes Golf Resort, with frontage along Seven Devils Road. The tree farm would produce near and short-term cash flow in the next 5 to 10 years, according to Realty Marketing/Northwest.
• Whiskey Run: 167 acres of Douglas fir, spruce and cedar with some hardwoods located along Two Mile Creek, a mile east of Whiskey Run Beach.
