911 call prompts arrest

Saturday, November 07, 2009 |
Coos County deputies arrested a Myrtle Point man Thursday after a dispatcher reported receiving a threatening 911 call.
Deputies responded to 51511 Old Big Creek Road in Bridge after a man called 911 and said he had a weapon and would kill police if they came to his home. As deputies circled the perimeter of the house, someone fired about five shots from a large caliber handgun. Deputies couldn’t determine what direction the shots were fired, a press release said.
They arrested Jason Tams, 24, on charges of unlawful use of a weapon, menacing, disorderly conduct, and initiating a false police report. They took him to Coos County jail, where he was being held Friday on $42,500 bail.
Oregon State Police and Bridge firefighters assisted deputies. No one was injured during the arrest.
