Council is wrong venue for vendetta

Friday, November 06, 2009 |
The editorial (The World, Oct. 28) about the Lakeside recalls was so spot-on for the opinions of most of the citizens of Lakeside.
I’ve been a resident of Lakeside since 1992 and have seen many petty factious groups use the recall procedure to settle personal vendettas. The majority of Lakeside residents just want an unbiased, fair and knowledgeable city government to represent all of us and spend what few tax dollars we get wisely. Currently, we have the kind of people in our city government to do just that with the exception of two, who want to continue the old “settle the vendetta” process.
If the citizens of Lakeside follow your advice to vote no on all of the recall efforts, those two will have to learn to work with the others and our city can move forward and stop wasting what few dollars we have on recall elections.
Let’s spend our money on playground equipment, community gardens and upgrading our roads and infrastructure. Vote no on all the recalls and let the government of Lakeside know you’re tired of this counter-productive bickering.
