Read up & get informed/educated about LNG at www.lngpollutes.org
Hoping the uninformed Oregon citizens find out what I say isn't made up & the other pro Bob Braddock followers that have either back door deals or just plain going to profit from this California LNG SCAM at Jordon Cove
P.S. To EVERYMAN (In the pipe business) There's a nice factual letter written about the FLAWED EIS report titled "Jordan Cove EIS lacks analysis" by Ron Sadler in the World newspaper's archives. Also, anyone can look up prior polls in the World to prove every poll taken by the World newspaper has MAJORITY against this SCAM. Simple stuff, but I'm glad I could help point you in the right direction...

You keep cutting and pasting the same bullet points, yet give no details to back up your facts...
I am willing to listen...but not to name-calling and hysteria...

The wind, solar, wave energy thing that you say I ignore. You are right...I ignore it. I ignore it because it has nothing to do with this discussion...it's like saying because there is a Dutch Brothers down the street, we should prohibit a Human Bean from existing at PV Mall...ridiculous. And, for the record...the potential for wind, solar, and wave energy is AWESOME!! I whole-heartedly endorse R&D into them...but they are decades away from being viable, from both a technology AND an infrastructure standpoint.
Yes, I want educated people to move here FOR jobs...you act like that is a bad thing?
Germany was once one of our countries dealiest enemies...now they are one of our allies. Iran was once a staunch American ally, now they are an enemy...the way things are will change, like it or not.
Does that address the issues you say I ignore? You cannot speak, you only scream...keep screaming...

Lets see now:
1) You think it's great that outsiders will be brought in to support this California LNG SCAM at Jordon Cove, yet this area's locals get all the NEGATIVES/RISKS to this project?
2) You think it's great that Oregon/USA's increased dependence on future energy needs, yet that only increases the hardship on ALL USA citizens due to increased prices? Besides Russia, Algeria, Iran really aren't our buddy's sorry & that's where we would get the LNG from!
3) You think increased air pollution is a positive step for this area or any area?
Last but MOST important, future energy needs will come from Solar, Wind, Wave & notice your avoided that point also! Sorry EVERYselfservingMAN, your WEAK arguments are just a pathetic try to change the subject using double talk with little substance backing it up as usual. How is Bob Braddock these days, a little desperate with the many delays that will ONLY increase in the future?

I'm not professing to have all the answers, but I am skeptical about some of the rants and raves I read here.
I'm curious: where do you think your odds are greater: an LNG disaster or a tsunami? Did you hear Lincoln City had a tornado yesterday? All I'm saying is that life is full of danger - some greater than others, so I'm not certain the hysteria is warranted.

"Bob Braddock has said he'll bring in people for this project, besides it takes a college degree in that particular field to qualify for a job at Jordon Cove."
So...well-educated people will be moving here to work here...paying local taxes...placing thier children in local schools...yes, please go on.
Gas prices in the 70's, huh? OPEC, huh? Hmmmm...you may need a geography course or two (Not to mention a couple of elementary level spelling courses), but most of the tankers that would be landing here would be from nations we currently have common ground with.
Our country is nowhere near as dependant on Natural gas as it is on petroleum...and if it is too expensive, DON'T BUY IT!!
Keep screaming, Ms Sense...keep screaming.
Where there's a will, there's...Everyman!

You think locals are going to get GOOD PAYING JOBS AT LNG ? ? ? Yeah right!
You want to chance getting blown up for a few clean up jobs.
And you think the pollution will stop for Christmas Day maybe ??? Doubtful !
And as for the pollution, you think maybe they take Christmas Day off, I doubt it ! ! !

LNG terminals have tall stacks emittin pollutes in the air 7/24/365 & have been rejected by many states includin California.
Anytime a country rely's on other country's energy needs always leads to HIGHER prices. Just as OPEC raised prices in the 1970's to the USA & prices DOUBLED over-nite.
Better read up on this OLD LNG Technology, because it's really NOT needed due to USA's HUGH Domestic natural gas reserves that is 1/2 the price of imported LNG. Besides solar, wind, wave energy sources are the future! How is Bob Braddock these days anyways, kinda desperate due to all the delays (ALOT more coming in the future)?

Get a new pseudonym. It only seems right.
No local will qualify for a job? Wrong.
Air polluter 7/365? Says who?
Expense? Short-sighted, at best.
Increases dependence? How? And for how long?
Property owners forced to sell land? Yes, just as we have been forced to sell land for the many roads we use.
Temp jobs? Digging ditches? Come now, please demonstrate some Common Sense.
Common Sense wrote on Nov 6, 2009 7:00 AM:
Why would anyone want this California LNG SCAM here, when:
1) NO local will qualify for any of the full time jobs at Jordon Cove,
2) Air polluter 24/7/365 days,
3) OVER 2X more expensive then what Oregon citizens are paying right now on your gas bills,
4) Increases Oregon & the entire USA dependence on foreign hostile countries like Russia, Iran, Algeria, etc. that could black mail us like OPEC did in the 1970's where prices went 2X over nite when they decided not to sell to us,
5) 400 Oregon property owners will be FORCED to sell their land,
& the list of NEGATIVES can go on & on!
Thus, it doesn't take a rocket scientist that a little extra tax revenue gained with a few temporary jobs created diggin ditches is NOT worth the RISKS & other NEGATIVE reasons to have this SCAM...sorry

Has anyone - besides me - thought about that?
rianza wrote on Nov 5, 2009 2:57 PM:
Doesn't make sense to me. And how could a $650m build project impact the area in any other way but positive? And those "few" jobs will propably pay better than 95% of the existing jobs in this area. How could that not be positive?
If you're looking for an area that isn't building, isn't growing, and doesn't represent much external risk other than tornadoes, Detroit is a terrific choice for anyone looking for a city with similar prospects as Coos Bay.

Do you think a few low paying jobs is going to keep your kids here to work, as some people say. There won't be enough jobs and most kids want to leave this area anyway.
And I would want my kids leaving in case there was an accident from LNG.
Ok, I am waiting for the comments now from the "YES IN MY BACKYARD" people..

LNG industry best practices, as promulgated and published by the Society of International Gas Tanker and Terminal Operators (SIGTTO), indicate LNG terminals should not be located where vapors from an LNG release could affect civilian populations. Jordan Cove's proposed terminal site violates that tenet.
Without a question, Jordan Cove LNG violates LNG industry terminal siting best practices by placing the civilian population of Coos Bay at risk.

Blind leadin the Blind on this HIGH RISK (Without a plan), non job producer (Except for some diggin ditches for 230 miles for a few Union workers), Air polluter, Land grabber, unneeded expensive gas (OVER 2X more then what Oregon citizens pay right now on their monthly gas bills) from foreign hostile countries like Russia, Iran, etc...
