Chili cook off
Lakeside Lions Club will host its third annual Western Chili Cook Off Friday at 6 p.m.
There is no entry fee to compete. Contestants need to make enough to serve 25 average size bowls of chili. Contestants can enter more than one type of chili. There will be an award for the best hot chili and first, second and third place plaques for the best three chilies: mild, medium, and hot chili.
Chili will be served with cornbread and pop.
A $5 per adult donation is suggested at the door with proceeds to go to Lakeside Citizens Patrol and Lakeside Volunteer Fire Fighter Association.
The cook off will be at the Lakeside Lions Club, 890 Bowron Road.

Holiday breads
The Coos County OSU Extension Service Family Food Educators will present “Holiday Breads,” from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m, Saturday at the Ohlsen Baxter Building, 631 Alder St. in Myrtle Point.
