At his request, no services will be held for William James Mieras, 70, of Lakeside. Cremation rites were held at Myrtle Crest Crematory in Coquille.

William was born July 18, 1939, in Grand Rapids, Mich., to James Corneilous and Katherine (Eikenhout) Mieras. He died Oct. 24, 2009, in Coos Bay.

William married Norma Arnold on Nov. 30, 1960, in Cloud Croft, N. M. He earned his associates degree from Lassen Community College in Susanville, Calif.

William served in the U.S. Army for more than two years and worked more than 30 years for the U.S. government. In that 30-plus years, he worked for the U.S. Forest Service and in federal law enforcement.

William loved his family, friends and outdoor activities. He had a great passion for fishing.

William is survived by his wife, Norma Mieras of Lakeside; son, Scott Mieras of New Zealand and his two daughters, Sophie and Amelia; daughter, Sandee Artierito of Washington, Calif., and her children, Jessica, Ian, Nichole, Sean and Lauren; son, Michael Mieras and his wife, Carrie of Reno, Nev., and their children, Taylor, Kolt and Destry.

Arrangements are under the directions of Myrtle Grove Funeral Service-Bay Area, 269-2851.
