Accident sends woman to hospital

Medics took a Coos Bay woman to the hospital Monday night after she lost control of her car, sliding into a ditch.
The tan Buick Century, driven by 60-year-old Karen Woods, was eastbound on Cape Arago Highway near Painter Avenue, when it left the roadway at 8 p.m. The sedan slid into a ditch, struck a mailbox and a fence, before ending up on its side, according to an Oregon State Police press release.
Medics transferred Woods to Bay Area Hospital, where she was treated for her injuries. Police did not give her a ticket.
