Coquille beat Myrtle Point 25-22, 25-19, 25-23 to force a three-way tie for second place in the Sunset Conference volleyball standings with two matches remaining in the regular season.
The Red Devils and Bobcats are tied with Bandon, while Glide fell back a spot to fifth place with an unexpected loss at Glide Thursday night.
Coquille coach Danielle McKinley said the key to the win over the Bobcats was improved passing in serve receive.
"I think overall our passing has really improved, and that's been something we've been working on," she said.
Coquille libero Kaitlyn Altenbach had 19 digs in the match, but excelled in serve receive, with 18 passes rated by the Red Devil coaches as "near perfect" and just two passing errors.
"That's huge," McKinley said. "That's such an improvement."
Christie Andy, who was sharing time at setter with Chelsy Forbes until McKinley switched up the lineup Thursday, also had a good night passing, while Forbes had 29 assists and three kills, two coming at key moments late in the first game.
Kelsey Hill added 12 kills and 12 digs and Taylor GeDeros had nine kills and four stuff blocks for the Red Devils.
Peyton Babb had 11 kills, 10 digs and three blocks for the Bobcats. Meghan Ross added six kills, 12 digs and four aces. Caitlyn Robison had five assists, two blocks and two kills and Jazmine Grantham had 13 assists and two aces.
Myrtle Point ends the season with a home match against Glide and a contest at league champion Cascade Christian. Both Coquille's matches are against other contenders - at Bandon on Tuesday and at home against Rogue River Thursday - but McKinley feels good about her team's chances.
"We're finally getting back to where we started that first match against Cascade," she said of the night the Red Devils became the first team to stretch the Challengers to five games. "We're getting back to our confidence level."
Bandon beats Reedsport
Bandon tipped visiting Reedsport 19-25, 25-23, 25-27, 27-25, 15-10 on Tuesday to move into the three-way tie for second place.
"It was a total nail-biter tonight," said Bandon coach Courtney Freitag, who praised the effort of the Braves and said one of her own captains kept the Tigers from a damaging loss.
"Karli Crook seemed to step up as one of the captains and command energy, which was nice to see," Freitag said. "Everyone stayed really positive."
She felt fortunate to get out with a win.
"I've got to hand it to Reedsport," she said. "Reedsport definitely has improved."
Kelsey Hinojosa had 41 assists for the Tigers. Grace Garrett had 25 kills and 21 digs, Crook had 10 kills and 28 digs, Jen Torres had eight kills and nine digs and Marissa Ramos had 44 digs.
Taylor Lewis had 31 assists and five digs for the Braves. Monica Vaughn had 17 kills and five aces and Eden Huebner added 12 kills and seven digs.
The loss officially ended Reedsport's playoff hopes.
Challengers top Panthers
Cascade Christian beat host Gold Beach 25-10, 25-12, 25-16 to stay perfect in league play.
Breanna Holtz had 27 assists, 12 digs and three aces for the Challengers, while Becca Sellers had 17 kills and nine digs.
Katherine Zuber had eight kills for the Panthers. Frankie Lemmons added four kills and an ace, while Katie Moore had two kills and seven assists and Lindsey McDonald had 10 digs.
Wildcats edge Chieftains
Glide beat visiting Rogue River 24-26, 25-22, 25-19, 20-25, 19-17.
Jessica Strader had 14 kills, 23 assists, seven aces and 19 digs for the Wildcats, while Kristy Russell and Marissa Duarte each had nine kills.
Jesse Sondag had 14 kills, four blocks and 30 digs for Rogue River.

Pacific tips Warriors
Pacific edged New Hope 25-17, 21-25, 29-27, 23-25, 15-8 at Grants Pass on Thursday.
"It was a tough win on the road," Pacific coach Tiffany Freitag said of the victory over the last-place Warriors. "A win's a win. I'm happy."
Devon Ashdown had 11 aces and 20 assists and Jesse Culley added nine kills, four blocks and 12 digs for the Pirates.
The difference in the games Pacific won was the effort at the service line, Freitag said.
"We had kind of a hot and cold night serving," she said. "Three games we were serving great and the other two we weren't serving so well."
The Pirates finish the season next week with a match at home Tuesday against Umpqua Valley Christian.
