PORTLAND (AP) — The Oregon attorney general’s office said that in 2004 the Port of Astoria executive director improperly used his position to secure work for his girlfriend with a company hoping to build a liquefied natural gas terminal nearby.

The attorney general’s investigation also showed that weeks later, then-Port director Peter Gearin advocated leasing 92 acres to the company without telling port commissioners about the connection between his girlfriend and Calpine, the company seeking to build the terminal. Gearin’s girlfriend was also working for the port.

The attorney general’s office said Tuesday it could prove Gearin committed official misconduct in securing public relations work for Susan Trabucco, now his wife. The office declined to prosecute, noting a two-year statute of limitations on the misdemeanor has expired.

Attention Attorney general’s office:

Don't forget to check into the self serving goodoleboys back door deals on why they are trying extremely hard at securing the LNG at Jordon Cove here at CoosBay/North Bend area. Special interest belongs to Port Commissioners/Gov Ted, Coos Bay Mayor, County commissioners, Coos Bay, North Bend city counselors & even the State Supreme court refused to hear the obvious Tsuami zone issue of placing a RISKY LNG terminal in a Tsuami zone violating zone & safett codes placed into law in 2002. Keep up the good work attorney general’s office on catching these violators in protecting the majority of Oregon's citizens best interests & rights!
