Bandon swept the team titles in the Myrtle Point Invitational on Saturday.
Isaac Taylor and Michael Whitney finished first and second to lead Bandon’s boys to an easy victory over runner-up Brookings-Harbor. The Tigers had 24 points, to 51 for the Bruins, who were led by Gage Northrup’s third-place finish.
Pacific’s Wren Carter won the girls race, and was followed by Bandon’s Rachel Ledig, Reedsport’s Caitlyn Reilley and Myrtle Point’s Maegen Miranda.
The Tigers finished with 29 points, to 41 for Brookings-Harbor and 53 for Myrtle Point.
Most of the same schools will take part in the noncompetitive Brownie Run at Bullards Beach State Park near Bandon on Thursday.
Marshfield third
Marshfield’s boys and girls finished third in the team races and North Bend’s Katie Romanko was second individually at the Bristow Rock-n-River Invite at Dexter on Saturday.
Marshfield’s boys finished behind Pleasant Hill and Sisters in the team standings. Andrew Davidson finished fifth in the 5,000-meter race, but just three seconds out of second place, in 17 minutes, 4 seconds. Teammate Tyler Nixon was 11th, one spot in front of North Bend’s Zach Reichenberger.
Cottage Grove’s Patricia Guterrez won the girls race in 19:53, with Romanko second in 20:08. Marshfield’s Tori Scott and Jasmine Meline finished seventh and eighth, respectively.
Sweet Home won the team title, followed by Sisters, Marshfield and North Bend.
Snook places seventh
Gold Beach’s Sydney Snook finished seventh in the State of Jefferson Invitational at Ashland on Saturday.
Jessica Wolfe of Mountain View won the race in 19:15. Snook was timed in 20:31 and was the first finisher from a smaller school.
Ashland’s Wilder Schaaf won the boys race in 16:02 and Gold Beach’s Miles Bernadett-Peters finished 32nd in 18:20.
Concorida/PUMA Open
Siuslaw’s boys finished seventh in the elite division at the Concordia/PUMAOpen.
Joseph Campbell was 27th and Jacob Berkner 28th in the boys race for the Vikings, the top-ranked team in Class 4A. Siuslaw placed seventh behind six larger schools, including champion Henry Jackson of Washington.
For the top-ranked Siuslaw girls, Raelyn Robinson was 20th and Samantha Pummer 24th. The Vikings fielded an incomplete team.
