Thurston beat visiting Marshfield 13-25, 25-22, 25-17, 25-20 on Thursday to build a two-game lead in the Midwestern League volleyball standings.
The Pirates played great in the first game and then fell to early deficits in each of the final three, Marshfield coach Tammie Montiel said.
“Passing and defensively, we weren’t consistent enough and didn’t keep enough balls alive to stay in the game,” she said.
Kara Young had 15 kills for Marshfield. Nikki Gross had 27 assists and 10 digs and Amber Owen added seven kills.
The Pirates still are alone in second place in the standings.
“We’ll regroup and move on for the next four league games,” Montiel said.
