McTimmonds invited to Pennsylvania event

The National AMVETS has invited Shante McTimmonds to attend an all-expense paid trip to Valley Forge, Pa., to participate in the Spirit of America youth conference Nov. 5-8.
The 14-year-old student from North Bend will tour Gettysburg, Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell and several Civil War battle fields.
She is the 2009 White Clover Princess for the Oregon AMVETS.
Coos Bay’s Tarbox wins honor for years of service
During a recent Rebekah Assembly ceremony in Latrobe, Calif., Carolyn Livingston, president of the Rebekah Assembly, presented a 50-year Rebekah jewel to Barbara Tarbox of Coos Bay.
The Rebekah Lodge is a branch of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.
