Powers moved into a tie for third place in the Skyline League volleyball race with a four-set win over host Camas Valley on Thursday.

The Cruisers beat the Hornets 21-25, 25-19, 25-12, 25-20.

Liz Linderman had 11 kills, seven digs and four blocks for Powers.

“She really did a good job at the net tonight,” said Powers coach Beth Rector. “She was really aggressive and was all over blocking and tipping.”

Taylor Stallard had six kills and two blocks and Leeanna Sears had five kills for Powers.

“We started out a little flat in the first set, just not very enthusiastic,” Rector said. “We started to put the next three sets together and played much tougher.

“It was a good win on the road and nice to be back up into the third-place spot with UVC.”

Pacific falls

Days Creek beat visiting Pacific 25-17, 25-19, 25-17 in a Skyline League match.

“Both teams had some good things happen on the court,” said Pacific coach Tiffany Freitag, pleased that the games were fairly close given challenges of illness. “Both teams were missing some starting players. We were a little not used to the rotation we were in.”

Jesse Culley had a strong all-around night for the Pirates with five aces, four kills, two blocks and eight digs. Devon Ashdown had four assists.
