BANDON — The Port of Bandon’s general manager will get a 7 percent raise, in part to cover costs of doing the job.
The port commission has boosted Gina Dearth’s pay nearly $3,100 to $47,493 per year, following an evaluation of her performance.
Commissioner Reg Pullen said Dearth “had a successful evaluation (and) has done an outstanding job.”
Port Commissioner Robin Miller researched what some other coastal ports pay their managers. Pay scales vary from approximately $40,000 to $125,000 a year.
After asking Dearth for more details about her work schedule at the September meeting, the commission learned of numerous hours and mileage fees she hasn’t been compensated for during 2009. Pullen suggested a raise of 5 to 10 percent, and the commission agreed on 7 percent.
The port also OK’d a High Dock building project bid from Bob Butler Construction for $8,553. The work includes replacing the upstairs siding, subwall, door and window on the south side of the building.
Butler wasn’t the lowest among the bidders, which also included Winchell Woodworking LLC, ($9,785), Art McMahon Construction ($6,500), David Nevitt Construction ($5,890), B.C. Construction ($8,550) and Eichelberger Construction ($9,700).
“The commissioners and staff thought the Butler bid was well-written and included specific details that were important,” Dearth said.
