Boesl, Dodgen on list for merit scholarships

Saturday, October 03, 2009 |
Marshfield High School senior Markus Boesl has been named a National Merit Scholarship semifinalist. He, along with about 16,000 students around the country, is still in the running for a $2,500 National Merit scholarship, as well as various college-sponsored awards.
Boesl qualified for the contest when he took the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test in 2008. Boesl’s selection as a semifinalist means he had one of the best scores in the state, a press release said.
The only other South Coast student recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Corp. is Patrick Dodgen of Brookings. He is home schooled.
