The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Portland District is giving people more time to comment on the waterway aspect of the proposed liquefied natural gas pipeline at Coos Bay. The deadline now will be Dec. 27.
The agency is taking comments on the application by Pacific Connector Gas Pipeline and the Oregon International Port of Coos Bay, a press release said.
They propose to construct an access channel and boat slip on the North Spit, an onshore liquefied natural gas import and storage terminal on the spit’s bay side, and a 234-mile natural gas pipeline and associated infrastructure in Coos, Douglas, Jackson and Klamath counties.

The Army Corps will issue or deny a permit only for those project-related activities that fall under the agency’s jurisdiction under Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act, Section 404 of the Clean Water Act, and Section 103 of the Marine Protection, Research and Sanctuaries Act.
