Forest restrictions increase with hot, dry weather

Tuesday, September 22, 2009 |
Increased fire danger on forestlands protected by the Coos Forest Protective Association has prompted CFPA to increase the fire prevention measures on industrial operations in some areas.
Industrial Fire Precaution Level II takes effect at noon today on all lands protected by CFPA within regulated use zone CS-4. Industrial operators can check their operating permits to determine the zone they are working in, a press release said.
IFPL II, or “partial hootowl”, prohibits blasting, welding and cable yarding from 1 to 8 p.m. Chain saw use also is prohibited between these hours, except at loading sites. A firewatch of three hours is also required.
Current IFPL’s in zones protected by CFPA:
• CS-1 — Level 1.
• CS-2 — Level 2.
• CS-4 — Level 2.
• CS-5 — Level 2.
• SK-1 — Level 2.
• SK-2 — Level 2.
To stay current on wildland restrictions for the public and industry, call CFPA’s closure information line at 267-1789 or go to
