Be afraid of frothing extremists

I’m afraid this county is under attack by the radicals, but it’s not the radical left as the right would have you believe, it’s the extreme right wing of what’s left of the Republican party.

It’s obvious that these people aren’t happy they lost the election, so they will do anything they can to discredit President Obama regardless of how disgusting and shameful they have to get. They would not be acting as vile and childish as they are if this president were white, but after reading some of the outright racist bumper stickers — as I’ve see here in our lively little town.

It’s pretty obvious the right will do anything, and I mean anything, to harm this president, regardless of the harm to our nation. Then they think they will be able to get re-elected and take us back to the good ol’ days.

Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck and the rest of the wackos on Fox do their best every day to mislead people and sadly enough, there are a lot of very ignorant and stupid people who feed on such lies.

When I watched all of the town hall events of the last month, I was shocked, but not surprised, to see so many people calling for the government to keep out of their Medicare and Social Security, even though those are socialist offices that have only helped those very same stupid people who complain about the government. We don’t need to fear the so-called socialist take over, but we do need to be afraid of the real cancer in this nation — and that is blind stupidity.

Isn’t the basis of capitalism the freedom of business to do what’s good for them in a free market?
You know, like American companies shipping jobs over seas to maximize profits via cheap labor. So all you out of work Republicans should rejoice, capitalism is alive and well.
Now if you’re serious about American capitalism you’ll need to work for wages equal to or below your over seas competition and then those jobs will come back to the US.

That’s Capitalism!

Gary; You brought up Bush, then when I point out what he did. You tell me to get off your man, as if it has nothing to do with where we are at today in this country. Give me a break. You are no different than most kids that want their way. You never want people to see what you did; only what you want. Or don’t want in this case. Make a point, a real one. Say something that’s valid and makes sense. Why are you against this? Your Obama lied crap is just that "crap". Like some little kid sticking out his tongue. What do you think needs to happen? How would you fix the mess we are in? I thought about it and cast my vote for change. Now I just wish people would get out of the way and let the VOTED IN President do what we voted him in to do. You get another turn to do it in 4 years. You can get another alcoholic killer back in there if things go your way.

everyone needs to stop with the name calling and use common sense here.

IF we're going to be smart and have success as a country, we need to be business minded. That doesn't mean the government needs to take over business, but if the government is required to step in to stabalize the economy, then lets do that.

President Obama is simply stepping in and cleaning up the messes that he can that were left by a President who bankrupted and mismanaged our country, as he did with every business he ran prior to entering public service.

There are a few posters on this web site and some of our representatives who think that American citizens are not capable of making cognitive decisions. There is new data (Gallup Poll)showing that 57% of Americans say the government is trying to do too many things that should be left to businesses and individuals, and 45% say there is too much government regulation of business. It is time to stand up and take back this country, froth if you must!!!

Worker Bee; I have to say I have often thought that the field of politics should be leveled. Each person running should get the same amount of time on TV in debate with each other period. They should not allow negative ads or any TV ads, and is disqualified if they receive any money at all from any corporate interest. This would keep them from not doing things for the people of this country, and wanting to kiss butt with their big money donors. I am sure the news channels would give them air time, they get enough now for free. I wonder how hard it would be to have an American channel for live debate for Presidential candidates. I know we have a channel for Coos Bay’s political scene. Our whole political system is twisted by back door deals and special interest. We the people all ways seem to be last. Until then we are stuck begging, and fighting with each other over things that could be, and should be available to us. This after all is our country.

Gary, the right can be the "better person" by not resorting to the same tactics that the left did during Bush's presidency. By taking up the same tactics, they show that they are no more rational or reasonable than the screwballs on the other end of the spectrum. Tit for tat accomplishes absolutely nothing, and the mess degenerates into the eye-for-an-eye revenge ideals put forth by common street gangs. Which gang are you? Red or Blue? Does the label you apply to yourself make you a better human being than someone with the other label applied to themselves? Does devolving into sandbox taunting make you any greater than your perceived enemy? If that's what modern politics has become, we're in far worse shape than anyone could possibly imagine- the enemy isn't the left or the right, or the far gone extremists, but ourselves, and the targets of our ire should not be each other, but the people who keep inciting us to claw at each others eyeballs.

Those frothing pseudo-intellectual extremeists achieved their aims by deceit and subterfuge. We are now mere vassals of the marriage of Marxist educators and their facist friends who have combined the worst of corporate-state partnerships.

My brother is on SSI and his wife is too. Both are fanatical GOP supporters and watch Fox News religiously. His wife is also on the Oregon State medical program. They are also both fairly racist, and are very clear about their dislike for those of another color. Their next door neighbor is even more fanatical, and has had no qualms about calling our current president the n-word, even in public. This gentleman also survives off of SSI, and is also a Fox "news" watcher. All three parrot Glen Beck. All three parrot Rush.

These three people have a lot in common with many other GOP supporters in the Bay Area as well as the nation.

I lived in Coos Bay during the election season, and these three weren't the only GOP supporters I've heard using racial slurs.

If you use the n-word, you will be called a racist, plain and simple.

Hiram, Marxism and Fascism are two politically ideologically opposite concepts. One cannot be both Marxist AND fascist, so it is obvious that these terms are merely "keywords" used to scare people, and your blatant misunderstanding and misuse of them is definitive proof.

I support and respect John McCain for the service to this country. BUT his recent voting:
Bail Out Money for Banks: YES!
Closing GITMO: YES!
Ending Water-Boarding, YES!
I don't think those are REAL Conservative thoughts of many TRUE Republicans? Perhaps we need to have those Fence Riders fall the same direction that Pennsylvania's Spector did? Bring back the Liberty of 100% for America, not protecting Socialistic ideas and concepts!

Barack Obama wrote on Sep 22, 2009 3:34 PM:

It's ok most of the right wingers are mad because House Minority Whip John Boehner (republican) has come out on national TV and said that Obama is indeed not a Socialist. And then Lyndsay Graham another prominent Republican came out and said the same thing that he neither a socialist or a muslim..

And then there's the topping to the sundae:Glenn Beck on CBS interviewed by Katie Couric saying "Obama is much better for the country than McCain would have been"

Ouch!

P.S.

You can't have fascism and Marxism together if you actually knew the definitions, you would know that you're wrong.

When they rile you up, it's money in their pocket. Would you so wholeheartedly cling to the opinions of any TV star, or just the ones in suits and ties wrapped in imaginary credibility (they're on TV, so they must be right!)? For the first time in my lifetime the quiet and reserved right rises up and speaks their mind in a public manner and the left absolutely freaks out.

I don't agree with everything FOX news says anymore than I do the other networks, but until FOX news came along the left had a monopoly on the media.

Suddenly, the conservatives rise up to let D.C. know they've had enough of the corruption, the lies and the irresponsible and bumbling "leadership", an the left acts like they're wearing a pair of under trousers three sizes too small.

As a lifelong Independent I find the left's obvious sense of insecurity almost comical.

The Oregon Health Plan is a government run health insurance option that, like some current health plans being pushed in Washington, is designed to increase ACCESS to health care and CONTAIN health care costs. The COST of the OHP far outstripped original estimates so new enrollment in the program was CLOSED from mid-2004 until early 2008, when a lottery-based system was introduced to limit new enrollments. Oregon is a bit different from most states in that euthanasia is legal.
