Quilting is an art
The Coos Sand ‘n Sea Quilt Guild will hosts its 15th annual show ” “Sea of Quilts” ” in conjunction with the Bay Area Fun Festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Boys & Girls Club of Southwestern Oregon, 3333 Walnut St. in Coos Bay.
Around 200 quilts will be displayed in addition to a number of exhibits including the Challenge Quilts, Challenge Blocks and the Opportunity Quilt. A vendor’s mall and a handmade-item boutique also will be open.
Quilters will offer homemade cookies for a donation, which goes to support their Community Outreach programs, that include Quilts For Giving, and other programs that donate quilts to children and others in need.
The featured quilter this year is Alice Trivitt. She has been a member of the Coos Sand ‘n Sea Quilters for 14 years, and is a gifted quilter and teacher.
She will have many of her quilts on display and will be available during the quilt show to talk about her work and her passion for quilting.
Admission is $3. Public voting will take place on Saturday and ribbons will be on the winning quilts on Sunday. For more information call 888-3057.
