COOS BAY — Two interim administrators at Southwestern Oregon Community College now have permanent full-time jobs.
On Monday night, the college announced it has named Linda Kridelbaugh as the vice-president of administrative services. She has served in the position on an interim basis since October 2008, after Sheldon Meyer retired.
The college also tapped Janet Pretti, the interim dean of the Curry County campus since October 2008, to become the official dean.
Kridelbaugh, the wife of former college president Stephen Kridelbaugh, began working at Southwestern in 1991. She has also served as a tenured computer science instructor and the interim business, math, science and technology division director.
Before coming to Southwestern, Kridelbaugh taught at several education institutions in Illinois, including Lincoln Trail College, Eastern Illinois University and Olney Central College in Olney; along with Lower Columbia College in Longview, Wash. She also had a teaching fellowship at the University of Oregon.
In the private sector, Kridelbaugh worked as a programmer/analyst for International Paper Company in Longview and for the IBM Corporation in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. and Thousand Oaks, Calif. in the Systems Development Division and in the Federal Systems Division. She holds a master’s degree in computer science from the University of Oregon and a bachelor’s degree from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in Rapid City, S.D.
Pretti, who described herself as a sculptor and educator, first began coordinating classes part-time for North Curry County in 1988 when community education offerings were provided through the Curry ESD, under an out-of-district contract with Southwestern. In 1995, Curry residents voted to join the college district and Pretti came on as the Curry program coordinator, a position she held for 13 years, a Southwestern press release said.
A nearly 30-year resident of Curry County, Pretti has been active in community and county issues. She was a founding member and the first director of North Curry Children’s Center and served as the chairwoman of the Curry County Commission on Children and Families. She has a bachelor’s degree from Colorado State University and a master’s degree from the University of Oregon. In her spare time, Pretti continues to sculpt and exhibit her work throughout the Northwest.
