Sheriff: No charge over LNG threatening call

Wednesday, September 09, 2009 |
ASTORIA (AP) — Clatsop County Sheriff Tom Bergin says he’s decided the husband of a county commissioner didn’t break the law when he said he would “come after” the adviser to high school journalists who wrote an editorial critical of a proposed liquefied natural gas project.
Journalism teacher Don Anderson of Jewell High School says former school board member Dave Samuelson left voice mail to complain about the editorial in the student paper, The Jay.
The students opposed the Bradwood Landing project along the Columbia River. Samuelson is married to Commissioner Ann Samuelson.
Anderson says the students now are afraid to speak about why they wrote the piece.
