Coos Bay Wine Walk begins third year

Saturday, July 25, 2009 |
The Downtown Coos Bay Wine Walk begins its third year on Friday, Aug. 7 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Egyptian Theatre. In the past two years the event coordinated by The World newspaper has raised $11,880 for local non profit organizations and services. A dozen or more downtown businesses have participated each month by welcoming guests with wine samples. Wine Walk will benefit the Egyptian Theatre Preservation Association. Wine Walk participants purchase a wine glass for $10 and receive a map of participating merchants.
Following Wine Walk, The World is presenting a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society and Relay for Life at the Egyptian Theatre. The benefit movie is the animated feature “Shark Tale” which features great music and a romance story with vocal acting leads Will Smith and Renee Zellweger. Tickets for the benefit movie are $5 and proceeds go to both Relay for Life and the Egyptian Theatre. Advance tickets may be purchased at The World at 350 Commercial Ave. in Coos Bay. For more information, call Cindy Rawlings at The World, 269-1222 ext 289.
