Monday, September 24, 2007 12:23 PM PDT
The Coos Bay District Bureau of Land Management is looking for volunteers to participate in the District's sixth-annual National Public Lands Day.
It's scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept, 29, at New River Area of Critical Environmental Concern.
Volunteers at New River ACEC, located south of Bandon, will help create better meadow habitat for songbirds, hummingbirds, deer and a variety of other small mammals. BLM employees will be on hand to help volunteers on the work crews. Volunteers should wear outdoor work clothes (hat, long sleeve shirt, and long pants) and bring sunscreen. The BLM will provide all the necessary tools, safety equipment and instructions. Participants will receive a free lunch and National Public Lands Day T-shirt.
