Youth Sports: Youth football registration night is Thursday

The first registration day in the Bay Area for the South Coast Football League will be Thursday, with players able to sign up at either Pete Susick Stadium at Marshfield High School or Vic Adams Field at North Bend High School.

The tackle football league, in its second season, is for players in fifth and sixth grades.

Players can sign up Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at either stadium.

The early registration fee is $100.

Players also can sign up on Aug. 13 at either stadium, again from 6 to 8 p.m.

The late registration date is Aug. 15, which also will include the draft for teams in each town, as well as the time to distribute gear for the season. That day’s events will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at each location.

The late registration fee is $125.

Gear will not be distributed until fees are paid.

Coquille, Myrtle Point and Reedsport also plan to field teams, and will set their own registration dates.

Floor hockey clinic

Local boys and girls in grades 1-8 will have a chance to learn to play hockey on Wednesday, July 15, at the Portland Winterhawks Amateur Hockey floor hockey clinic at the Boys &Girls Club of Southwestern Oregon.

The clinic runs from 9 to 11 a.m., with a tournament planned from 1 to 3 p.m. Club membership is not required to participate. The participation fee is $3.

SeaBreeze camps

The SeaBreeze Cheerleading Camp, directed by Southwestern Oregon Community College cheer coach Kailie Mill, is scheduled for July 13 to 16 at Pierce Court at the Boys & Girls Club of Southwestern Oregon.

Registrations are being accepted now, and the fee is $45 with a current club membership.

Junior Tennis camps continue through July and August. All sessions will run Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for boys and girls age 14 and younger.

The fee is $50 for each session with a current club membership.

Registration forms for both camps are available at the club office or online at www.bgc-sworegon.org.
