Remind politicians whom they serve

Independence Day is when the people in this country had enough of the greed and overwhelming taxation by England and the king. Our forefathers, 233 years ago, paid attention to what was going on with the governing scoundrels in control and had enough of the control and taxation and did something about it.

Today, we are facing very similar controls and soon to be out-of-control taxation, but not from England, it is coming right from our own country in Washington, D.C.

Many of us read the newspaper and receive information from other sources and do our best to act and inform our representatives as to our feelings and what we desire and do not desire as well. However, a vast majority are content to either hope for the best or have no clue as to the predicament we all will soon be in and will not be able to reverse.

Not every representative is corrupt or greedy to be sure, but how can they hold out against the hoards of others bent on getting all they can and more power as well? Which do you feel is the main objective, power or greed? That is a tough question, but in my opinion a lot of both.

Just look at the bills recently proposed and the thousands of pages in those bills, how can anyone have the time to read every page and vote on any of these bills? The answer is they can’t, they rely on what the party leaders tell them and we receive new laws that take our money and control away from us.

I feel many of our representatives are like little puppies. They beg for a treat and will roll over to get it. Do your best to yell and scream and pester your representatives to vote for you and your country rather than themselves and the party.
