Blaze closes interstate near Medford, Phoenix

Monday, July 06, 2009 |
PORTLAND (AP) — A grass fire forced a two-hour closure of Interstate 5 in southern Oregon.
The Oregon Department of Transportation says the highway was closed Sunday afternoon in both directions between Medford and Phoenix because of the blaze near milepost 26.
Crews responded to the fire and Department of Transportation District Manager Jerry Marmon says the northbound lanes were reopened after about two hours. He said southbound motorists were still facing some delays.
During the closure, northbound motorists detoured to Old Highway 99 and southbound drivers were routed to exit 30.
