Officers arrested a Reedsport man Wednesday after a Safeway employee reported a man threatened employees and stole items.
Dispatchers took a call on the robbery at about 7:20 p.m. after a man stole a bunch of items and fled the store at 1499 Highway Ave. Police said the suspect threatened employees who tried to stop him in the store, though he may not have had a weapon.
Officers found Jeffrey A. Lewin, 48, and arrested him on charges of second-degree robbery, menacing, third-degree theft and third-degree escape.
He was taken to the Reedsport jail and then transported to the Douglas County jail, where he was being held this morning on $263,750 bail. As to a criminal record, Lewin hasn't been convicted of a felony in Douglas County, a county circuit court spokeswoman said. |
