Sandblasters get win

Three Rivers got back on the winning track in American Legion baseball on Tuesday, beating the visiting Mid Valley Rockets of Albany 18-8 in eight innings.
Windy conditions in Florence contributed to 13 errors, eight by the Sandblasters.
Bryce Weidman pitched a complete game and also brought in the clinching run with a single in the eighth inning, ending the contest early.
Zach Laxague went 3-for-6 with two solo home runs for the Sandblasters, while Drew Rainwater had an inside-the-park homer. Nico Johnson had a two-run homer for the Rockets.
Three Rivers improved to 6-4 in Zone 3 play, while Mid Valley fell to 1-9. The teams play each other again today at Albany.
Three Rivers hosts Beaverton for nonleague games on Thursday and Friday, with Friday’s contest a doubleheader.
