Energy - how to save it and how to generate it - will be the topic of a workshop on July 22 in North Bend.
Coos County homeowners and business owners can learn how to earn cash incentives for energy efficiency improvements and renewable energy projects.
The workshop is set from 7 to 9 p.m. at the North Bend Community Center, 2222 Broadway Ave.
Attendees will hear from a panel of experts about cash incentives, tax credits and grants for energy efficiency improvements and renewable resources such as solar.
Presenters from Energy Trust of Oregon, USDA State Energy Program and Oregon Department of Energy will form the panel.
Coos County Commissioner Nikki Whitty, along with members of the Coos County Oregon Solutions Renewable Energy team, will help facilitate the conversation. The event will also include time for questions from attendees.
Energy Trust provides cash incentives for new construction and upgrades to existing lighting, HVAC, pumps, motors and insulation, as well as for installation of renewable energy systems such as solar and wind.
USDA's State Energy Program provides grants for a variety of clean energy projects, including solar. Oregon Department of Energy protects Oregon's environment by saving energy and developing clean energy resources. To encourage investments in energy efficiency and renewable resources, the office offers loans, tax credits, information and technical expertise to households, businesses, schools and governments.
