Injured driver out of hospital

Oregon State Police investigators still are compiling evidence in Wednesday’s accident on McCullough Bridge at North Bend that injured two people and stopped traffic for an hour and a half.
The crash was beyond the section of the bridge where restoration workers are replacing bridge railing.
OSP Lt. Steve Smartt said troopers have not issued citations in the three-car crash, but investigators have been gathering information about the driver who they believe caused the accident.
Medics took Jackie Bernard, 54, of Reedsport, and Aieriel Davidson, 20, of Medford, to Bay Area Hospital Wednesday. Davidson was treated and immediately released, while Bernard remained overnight in fair condition. A hospital spokesman said Monday Bernard was no longer at the hospital.
Bernard was northbound on U.S. Highway 101 in a 2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser when she was believed to have suffered an unknown medical condition, an OSP press release said. The Cruiser hit the curb on the bridge’s sidewalk, crossed into the southbound lane and hit a 2006 Chevrolet bus in which Davidson was a passenger. The bus slid sideways, went up onto the sidewalk and slid into the northbound lane, hitting a 2005 Honda Civic.
