Lyons is wrong on abortion

I could not let the Gene Lyons’ column (The World, June 17), go unchallenged.

Like all abortion apologetics it consisted of misrepresentations, half-truths and outright lies.

Lyons implied the lives of murdered late-term abortionist George Tiller’s clients were somehow at risk. If this is true, why didn’t Tiller follow accepted medical protocol and perform a cesarean? Instead, he subjected them to a grueling three-day procedure beginning with a deadly dose of chemicals injected into their infant’s beating heart.

A year ago, my daughter experienced a true emergency when her uterus began to rupture during labor. It threatened to kill her and the unborn child. Her doctors performed an immediate C-section and both mother and baby survived. Tiller, of course, never considered this an option. His goal was to murder children, not save them.

He portrayed the late Tiller as a valiant trauma team leader rushing from one life-threatening emergency to another. He more closely resembled a mugger preying on little old ladies in wheelchairs. Tiller took the Hippocratic Oath “to do no harm” then violated it 60,000 times. Though the idea sickens decent people, Tiller deserved his moniker “the Killer.” He earned enormous sums of money killing healthy, viable babies.

Lyons disingenuously asks, “Then why did that Kansas jury acquit Tiller?” The jury acquitted Tiller because of inept prosecution facilitated by Gov. Kathleen Sibelius. Aided by Tiller-funded PACs, she manipulated the previous year’s election. Despite Tiller’s much ballyhooed acquittal, the Kansas Medical Board was moving to revoke Tiller’s medical license when he died.

Let’s not kid ourselves. Tiller, like Adolf Eichmann, gave seminars extolling the efficiency of his killing process. To his eternal detriment, his case unexpectedly moved to a higher court. One in which politics counted for nothing and 60,000 souls stood as witnesses to his atrocities.

Your readers deserve better than Gene Lyons. When you publish nonsense like this, you not only betray your journalistic principles, you become part of the ongoing media deception which allows others to follow in Tiller’s bloody footsteps.

Edward,
Great letter, I send you a bucket full of atta-boys.
It sure brought the worms out of the hot log. Some really warped minds out there but they can have their sick opinions.

CATMAN: You are a VERY disturbed individual!

The problem here is that the lines between right and wrong are black and white not gray. People are trying to play God deciding when anothers life should end and this is a dangerous game that noone can win. The unborn children had just as much right to live as Dr Tiller did. It was not a true pro lifer that murdered the Doctor, the deads of this murder are just as wrong as Dr Tillers were.

I support any and ALL methods of population control, including Capitol Punishment.

Notice that pro-choicers don't kill anybody, but that pro-lifers do. I support the killing of pro-lifers. I support the killing of ANY race related gang members.

I support radical methods of reducing prison populations. You a gang member .. you die. Result 30-50% reduction in Jail and Prison Population. I have more ideas .. call me Arnold.

I love my life, I can make both conservatives and liberals hate me. Good I hate them both.

Don't call these people pro-life. They obviously aren't pro-life they are pro-death because they think it's ok to kill a doctor without a trial. How un-American can you get? They sound like terrorists to me. They have to force their beliefs on others. How is that any different then a terrorist? They terrorize people at abortion clinics. They kill people that don't follow their moral code. It's frightening what these extremists will do.

In my opinion, I think The World has shoved this subject down our throats ENOUGH! It has caused so much controversy on these comment sections and has resolved absolutly nothing but arguments between GOOD people on BOTH sides of this issue. Everyone of us have our own personal opinions on this matter that has been hashed out over and over again. It will never be resolved in our life times. You (The World) needs to stop these arguementitive articles on abortions! Enough is Enough!

You write an article proclaiming you are sharing the truth and then perpetuate LIES. Third trimester abortions (D&X) are performed when there is NO other medical option. There are countless medical conditions -advanced diabetes, clotting and bleeding disorders etc. which invalidate the possibility of C-sections. He didn't perform a C-section as the mother would have died from that type of surgery.

I just wish you pro-lifers extended some courtesy to anyone who disagrees with you. The coward who killed Dr. Tiller is just that. And he got his ideas from those who think like you do. Your views are not factual. You base your views on whatever the right to life groups feed you. I love it when they take the pictures around to their little booths, are you aware those are taken in third world countries and SOLD to the right to life groups here? Oh, no you will say. Not so. I also recall an incident at the Coos County Fair where one of your people put a bloody picture in front of my 5 year old daughter. You seem to think that you have the right to shove your views down my throat. Not so much.
