Metal collection planned

Coos County will hold a residential metal collection event at the Beaver Hill Disposal Site starting on Wednesday. The county will waive the disposal fee for metal throughout July.
Examples of accepted items:
• Washers, dryers, stoves, water heaters, small metal appliances.
• Wood stoves, empty burn barrels, barbecues, microwave ovens.
• Refrigerators and freezers. (Coos County will remove freon and compressors.)
• Metal tools.
• Metal furniture.
• Bicycles and metal exercise equipment.
• Tire rims.
• Lawn equipment (drained).
• Empty propane tanks with valve/stem removed.
• Metal fencing with wooden posts removed.
• Nails and screws. (Please place in metal container or tin can).
• Miscellaneous scrap metal.
Not accepted: vehicles, logging and fishing cable, household hazardous waste (paint, solvent, tar, etc).

Garbage, furniture, brush, tires and construction debris brought to Beaver Hill need to be separated. The fees for these items will not be waived during the metal collection event.
Beaver Hill Disposal is open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. It is closed Sunday and Monday.
