Let’s re-enlist God to active U.S. duty

The Statue of Liberty will be the most expensive tombstone in history for a people who traded their God and their heritage for comfort and all the evils that follow prosperity. The comfort zone that allows God to be dismissed from duty in the good ol’ USA. No more teaching our youth about God. Easier and cheaper to open prisons and rehab centers. Nothing wrong with abortion, homosexuality, drugs, alcohol and porno. Hey, lets everyone choose their own path.

Chuck Norris involved God back in 443 school districts in 37 states. Something happening there. Chuck for president or Sarah Palin for president and Chuck for vice president. Let’s do it God’s way one more time.

Love one another. Let’s do what we can to stop the destruction.

OK, no one cares, but here's MY take. Go back into history, this country was founded on God. It's a fact. The more people take God out of this country, the more He will in fact leave it. Look around, people complain about the "state of America". Put GOD back into it, and it might surprise you about the change you will see. One day, "every knee will bow and every tongue confess".....remember that when the time comes, and you call out to Him. You might get a second chance.

Hey NOGOD, your going to lose your money. I'm betting on GOD and I'm going to win. You still have a chance to change your mind but where your headed at this time is not going to be a place you want to spend all eternity.
I know you do not believe me but when the time comes and it will you will remember what I said. God Bless you!

@Pril:Well it depends on exactly what you are reading as far as Jefferson and the like are concerned.. So far he's been considered an athiest,a deist, a unitarian and then on the fundy right a hardcore christian..

Anyways..

I'll put my money on atheist..

If we did a good act merely from love of God and a belief that it is pleasing to Him, whence arises the morality of the Atheist? ...Their virtue, then, must have had some other foundation than the love of God.

-Thomas Jefferson, letter to Thomas Law, June 13, 1814

nogod, they were not atheists. They were deists. To put it simply, they believed god may have created the universe but left us on our own. That there is no god watching us and guiding us anymore. You wind up the clock and walk away.

If you had ever read any of their writings, you'd know that. Get to reading.

This argument is old as dirt, but none of them were any kind of christian by modern standards

Balashark, there was no sinless "Golden Age". Robbery, Rape, Murder, Drug Abuse, etc., all have taken place to a similar rate per capita (that means that for every thousand people a certain percentage committed these crimes)since this country was founded. The only thing that has changed, is that now we have more instant, and constant, media coverage and media hype. The Chief of Police of Los Angeles has recently stated that under his administration, crime is down to a 1950's level. This country was founded by pilgrims who wanted a right to practice their own religion. That essentially means thatthey didn't want government interference in their faith, or lack thereof.

NoGod wrote on Jun 30, 2009 2:28 PM:

@Balashark:Where's your "facts" if you knew your history you would remember our ancestors came here to get AWAY from crazy fundies like you.. See Washington,Jefferson,Ben Franklin they were atheists and they all felt that there should be a hard line drawn between church and state.. Keep pulling those *facts* out of whatever orifice you got maybe sooner or later you will find your head.

Our country is in a scary route down absolute moral decay. I understand God is not going to be brought back into schools and government. What I wish for is for strong morals and a sense of right and wrong to be taught and prevail among the following generations. Unfortunately I don't believe this is going to happen since, without the bible, there's no solid standard. What one person says is okay, another may say is wrong. To each his own? I think not.

balashark wrote on Jun 29, 2009 9:39 PM:

this country was originally founded for freedom of religion and God was involved in every aspect of life. School, business etc.. as soon as God was taken out of the schools in the early 60's our youth criminal activities went on the rise. Check the stats, its all there!

jethro wrote on Jun 29, 2009 1:25 PM:

Faith-based Government? Do we also establish Shariaq law? What church do you recommend take power? Do we also require our women to dress head to toe in covering garments, and to follow their men at least ten paces behind? History shows us how much corruption ensues when you mix god and government. God doesn't want government: "Render unto caesar what is caesar, and render under god what is god's" My suggestion, learn about God in church. I'm Christian.

Darell, (to point out the obvious) not every child in the United States shares the same religion with you. How would you feel if your children had to learn about Islam or Buddhism in the public school system? My guess is that you would be outraged. Hypocrite.

Just because people aren't the same as you doesn't mean "world destruction". Please, learn to coexist with different people as not everyone in this world is a self-righteous bigoted WASP with warped ideals like you are.

And about Chuck Norris....are you some kind of a joke? You contradict yourself by saying "love one another" yet you are rallying against loving people who aren't your "type". Your letter makes no sense at all, were you drunk when you wrote it?

dannygs wrote on Jun 29, 2009 9:51 AM:

our children can learn about God in our respective churches, if we each decide to take them there. As schools seem to be failing at even teaching math, reading and writing (oh, and SCIENCE) *and not the teachers' fault, more like the lack of funding*, let's not add one more thing to the list. religion has no place in public schools.

and if you're Christian, you should reflect upon the big list of people your excluding for the sake of embracing Chuck Norris (LOL, really???) and Sarah Palin (Puke) - what would Jesus do? I have recently started wondering about Jesus and if he sits around asking himself, "With friends like these, who needs enemies?"

Go back to your Bible and reflect on Jesus embracing the downtrodden and not catering to the people like you - the righteous.

I'm a God fearing person and I consider myself a Christian, but, the path this world is on Darrell, you are really living in LaLa land! I really wish it could be as simple as YOU want it to be but, the destruction will continue it will not stop! IF you believe in the Bible and God, it is going as the readings in the Bible and it will only get worse. Chuck Norris, or Sarah Palin have nothing to do with it!

Coquillian wrote on Jun 28, 2009 4:37 PM:

I haven't heard of Chuck Norris doing anything with 443 schools. What are you talking about, your letter makes no sense.

You mean like George Bush's religious war in the Middle East? We saw how well that worked out, didn't we?

“President Bush said to all of us: ‘I am driven with a mission from God’. God would tell me, ‘George go and fight these terrorists in Afghanistan’. And I did."
