Fourmile Logging won all three of its games in the Father’s Day Babe Ruth Tournament over the weekend at Clyde Allen Field to take the title in the six-team event.
Among the victories was a 19-5 win over Coquille on Saturday morning. Coquille was the runner-up in the event.
Doug Molzahn, Eric Rains and Clint Burris scored three runs each in the win over Coquille, and Rains drove in three runs, while Cody Anderson had four RBIs.
Fourmile Logging’s other wins were 12-1 against Brookings and 3-2 over Phoenix-Talent.
In the win over Brookings, Jason Atkins had three hits and scored three runs. Tanner Canaday had a single and double and scored twice, while Burris had a single and double and drove in three runs. Rains had a triple and two RBIs. Atkins and Molzahn limited the Brookings team to a single hit.
Fourmile Logging scored runs in the first three innings and held on against Phoenix-Talent on Sunday morning. Molzahn and Ray Jones combined on a three-hitter. Molzahn had two hits and Burris had a double.
Coquille bounced back from its loss to Fourmile Logging to beat Hill Trucking 11-5, as Josh Iabichello had four hits, three runs and two RBIs. Ryan Smith and Eric Paige each added three hits and combined for five runs. Jake Thompson had two hits and drove in three.
Coquille edged Grocery Outlet 5-4 in its other game as Austin Arrant had two hits.
Hill Trucking also went 2-1 in the tournament, with wins over Brookings and Phoenix-Talent. Three Hill Trucking pitchers combined for 12 strikeouts in the team’s 8-5 win over Brookings. Chris Gruchacz had a double and Hayden Davisson and Nick Long scored two runs each in the 7-1 win against Phoenix-Talent.
