Coos Bay man arrested on weapon, parole charges

Coos County deputies arrested a Coos Bay man Sunday night on a charge of felon in possession of a firearm. Police responded to the gate of the Weyerhaeuser property in the Dellwood area of South Coos River Highway to the report of an assault. Deputies determined there wasn't an assault, but arrested Paul Sparks, 35, on the weapon charge, first-degree criminal trespassing and a parole violation. He was taken to Coos County jail, where he was being held this morning without bail.
