I really am bothered by people and the way they treat pets. The house next door rented for about 4 months, they brought 2 cats with them that they pretty much left outside. They seemed to be well fed and other than them being outside all was well. Then in the middle of the night out they sneak and they left both cats. One is jet black and seems to be fine on it's own the other is a beautiful siamese but I think it has no front claws. It is really emaciated. We have been feeding it for a couple of days since we saw the shape the cat was in but what happens when we leave. If we take the cat to a shelter more than likely it will be euthanized, or we can watch it starve. We can't take it in because we have a cat aggresive dog but people who do this to animals absolutely SUCK!

To 2009: Are you Kidding? a low cost spay is $40.00...for a cat that won't let you come near it. I agree that something needs to be done for the strays and the people who care for them but when it comes down to paying my electrical bill or having a feral cat spayed, I am sorry but I have to look after my family before a stray.

And BTW I own two cats and they are both neutered because I did not want to add to an existing problem...It's not just about getting females spayed but about getting males neutered too.

To Just Me: Thank you for helping get the kittens to loving homes and off the streets.

To Just me,
Why haven't you had the cat spayed. There are ways to catch a wild cat. Seems to me YOU are adding to the problem letting this cat have Kittens 2x a year!!

Charles, The sad thing here is that even if you took him to the shelter paid the ten bucks, with the infection he has, they would more than likely just put him down right after you walked out the door! This county is horrible when it comes to dealing with strays. I have one at my home that has been here for years, she still won't let me pet her and has blessed me 2x a yr. with babies that I have to get rid of. This is all because of irresponsible pet owners not getting their cats/dogs fixed. Mostly because of the high cost of doing so. If you can't afford it don't get the pet! I wish you the best on this poor cat. Maybe the best thing for him is for you to just let him hang out, and try to clean the wound.

Why may I ask is it that The Coos County Animal Shelter is requesting you to Adopt animals when there are thousands out there that need you more????
I live in the Empire area of Coos Bay and have a REALLY nice Cat that has adopted me and my family. That is a STRAY and Has never been in our home.
We named him Onery due to the fact that he nips when he doesn't want Pets.
Onery needs help. My family corraled him into a carrier and proceeded to drive the 5+ miles to the shelter Only to be Told "You need to fill out this paper and PAY 10 dollars "
I'm sorry but in this economy???
He still needs Help for an Infection on an ear for fighting however we do not have the monies.
So we drove to the mall to ask the FOCCAS if there was anything we could do and The Lady there informed us "Drive back to the Shelter and Try offering 2 dollars and see "
This enrages me
WHAT DO YOU DO HERE ?????
Comment please and Suggestions
